It seems our weekly date nights fall, most easily, on Sunday or Monday nights, when we’ve had a weekend to plan, rest-up, and regroup. Part of the fun of the date is figuring out what to do– and if you have little ones, you know that what sounds like the most awesome idea in the world, can quickly become a disaster in the face of missing toys, failed potty training attempts, basketball practice, business trips, the cold that has been flying around our house at “mach a billion”…..(Prep & Landing, anyone? Really? Crickets? It’s pretty obvious I have little ones if I’m quoting Disney.)
We spent our date evening chatting about the good ol’ days: the last 16 years of memories. When we first met, the first date that almost didn’t happen, first kisses, our wedding day. First apartment. Life before children, life when we were new parents, add a kid or two.
It was unbelievably fun– there’s nothing like remembering our past and daydreaming about our future to make an evening quite perfect. It accomplished all the important things that dates are supposed to accomplish: getting to know a person better, connecting with each other, and laughing at memories. It was our best date yet!
