We have 29 days to go before we head to the happiest place on earth and we’re all quite excited. Our countdown is on for the next few weeks!
Hotel and Fastpass+ tickets have been reserved. Dining and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservations have been made, and then just recently, cancelled. Mmmm-Hmmm. You read that right. Cancelled.
After further researching the sit-down restaurants that we made reservations for (all were highly rated, and I’m sure, quite delicious), we realized we’d spend over $1000.00 for one sit down meal per day of the five days we’re there. That still leaves two meals each day to pay for!
Our New Plan: Bring food and drinks (already budgeted into our grocery budget!) to eat at the hotel or to bring into the parks. We have a quite pricey dinner at Cinderella’s castle the evening of our daughters birthday, and one character meal planned. The least pricey character meal (from what I can tell) at Hollywood & Vine, featuring the Disney Jr. characters. Easily transported food and snacks will be joining us in the parks each day. Our budget for our family is currently $100 per day for food/drinks bought on property.
We’ve also decided that our little girl doesn’t need to be transformed into a princess in a fancy room by a total stranger. This was probably the hardest decision of this trip. I know. I sound ridiculous. The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique tugs at your heartstrings, with the desire to fulfill your little girls wildest princess fantasy. The pictures look amazing. However, the price tag that comes with some glitter and a bun our daughter will rip out of her head in seconds, is too high. I get that dress-up is fun but for our two older kids, we’d spend money that will, by the end of the day, amount to not very much. The experience isn’t one I feel strongly about– isn’t the fact that we’re at Disney World experience enough?! Our new vision is to head back to our hotel room for a mid-day rest and dress-up session. We are bringing a fancy dress from home and I’m supplying nail polish, glitter, and a magic wand for her/ knight shields for the boys, and we’ll be off to the Royal Table.
