We have a fantastic park that also has a science center right next door. It’s the best of both worlds– the kids go run and play and imagine. Then we take a chill out in the science center, where the kids “play” with the hands on centers and experiments.
The thing with having three children the particular ages that we do (7,5, &2) is that it is sometimes very hard to interact with all or even one in this type of setting. They are at such different ages/stages, that I’m frequently finding myself just letting them explore on their own; ideally I’d be able to explain what the kids each are encountering and the point of each interaction. It isn’t always possible. Especially when we are at a particular place with friends.
Nevertheless, they learned anyway. It’s pretty impossible to keep a kid from learning something.
